Mission

The Musselshell Valley Community Foundation (MVCF) is dedicated to enhancing the vitality of communities in the Musselshell River Valley of central Montana.

History

The MVCF was established in 1996 and attained tax-exempt status in 1997. Since then, the Foundation has awarded almost $10,000 in grants to worthwhile community organizations such as libraries, fire departments, children’s theater, humane societies and community development groups. MVCF currently has an endowment of about $40,000, which is managed by the Montana Community Foundation.

How To Give

Visit our website at www.mvcf.info for a membership form, or send your check made out to MVCF to PO Box 713, Roundup, MT 59072. Thank you!

How To Receive

The Foundation grants primarily to five focus areas: Community Enhancement, Recreational and Cultural Development, Youth Activities, Natural Resources and Community Education. We award grants from annual earnings on our endowment, currently about $1,200. In 2006, however, charitable contributions enabled us to distribute almost $5,000.

The grant application deadline is January 15. Applications can be picked up at the Roundup City Offices or downloaded from our website:  www.mvcf.info. Our Grants Committee evaluates all the applications through February, with grantees announced in March. MVCF has $1,200 to distribute in 2007, and anticipates having at least twice that in 2008.

News & Events

MVCF hosts a Patron’s Party every April to honor those in our community who contribute to the Arts and Culture Committee and to the Endowment. At the Party, we make awards and enjoy live music performances and delicious desserts. Please visit www.mvcf.info for more information.

MVCF also acts as fiscal sponsor for the Roundup Independence Days Extravaganza (RIDE).  This multi-day festival, celebrating western history and national pride, features concerts, theater, fireworks, parades, many children’s activities and a community picnic and ice cream social. More information and order forms for the all-inclusive entry button ($12 for adults) are available at www.roundupindependencedays.com.
